Shipping Guns
Guns can generally be shipped by anyone over 21 in the U.S.A. to a Federally Licensed Firearms dealer. You can use UPS, FED-EX or the US post office for long guns. Identify it as a long gun to the counter person and be sure no ammo is in the gun or package. Do not put anything on the package identifying it as a firearm. Do put your return address on the box and inside the box. Insure it with adult signature required. Be sure this is on the box. Guns [rifles or shotguns] sent by UPS can be shipped by ground and is the cheapest. You must ship complete working guns from a UPS company owned center, and not a private shipping center. At times UPS shipping centers will not ship pistol "Parts" by ground. This is frustrating because UPS considers any handgun receiver a gun. Then it must be shipped overnight air. Very expensive!! The post office will ship long guns to a dealer and back to you. But not pistols. The only exception is Antique pistols that do not use modern cartridges. Modern copies of old black powder pistols can be shipped by the US post office. KNOW THIS!!! US postal definition of "antique" is different from the one used by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms!!!!! Antique means a gun that does not use cartridges,[ or ammo is not available ]to the post office. ATF uses pre 1898 as the date for an antique with some exceptions for valuable relics and curios. ONLY Dealers can ship modern pistols by the post office to another dealer. Dealers must fill out postal form #1508 to be legal. Gun parts like a slide or barrel for a modern pistol can be shipped by the US post office as long as the frame is not included, by anyone. Pistols can be shipped by anyone over 21 years of age by UPS to me as I am a licensed dealer. [Except from some anti gun states]. Always insure with adult signature required!! If a postal employee refuses to ship a gun to me, then call me and my postal manager will call them and read the postal code to them . Rifles and shotguns from anyone over 21years of age. Handguns from FFL dealers only. For handguns only I ask that you find a friendly FFL dealer and have him ship to me by US Mail. A non-Licensed person can not ship handguns by US Mail. A Dealer will charge you, but the shipping is much cheaper. Both ways. And registered mail is the safest way to ship a handgun. Packing and shipping a Gun Pack in a good box and tape all seams after you record the serial number. It is very rare that something is lost or damaged. The plastic gun cases are great and low cost. Put them in a box. All rifles should be wrapped in a towel so they can not slide around inside the plastic case. Pistols sent for engraving should be sent with the grips you plan to use so I can match the border design to your grips. It looks bad if your grips do not fit the engraving or cover part of it. Rifles should be sent without the stock to save cost. I need to know where the stock line is so engraving or lettering will be level with the wood. Use masking tape to mark the wood line, then remove the stock. Source for rifle cases is www.amazon.com . Plano brand, #10740 rifle case is cheap. Please be sure to send work instructions and your contact information with the gun. Also, I must have a value to insure the gun when shipping back to you. I will E mail you when it gets here. You must give me a value!!!!! If not I will over insure it and charge you. Shipping Prices [back to you] PISTOLS sent by a dealer- $35.00. US Mail. Pistols sent fully assembled-Overnight air by UPS- Cost plus mileage. Black Powder Pistols - $25.00 RIFLES [without the wood]- $45.00 GUN PARTS - $10.00 to $30.00 These prices are for US postal or UPS. Pistol shipping prices to dealers are lower as I can ship by US postal, registered mail. The safest way to ship. dale@gunfancy.com or 360-497-5280
NEVER ship US postal to my street address only and leave off the P.O. Box address. UPS does not need the P.O. box address as they only deliver to street addresses. UPS will not leave anything without a signature if your package has on the label, Adult Signature Required. Federal law requires the shipping company to get an adult signature. It will be signed for and safe!
